Executive Director: Mr. Peter Hoar

Peter is a resident of the Parrsboro area and a member of the local Catholic Parish.  For the past number of years Peter has been working toward and Master of Divinity Degree at the Atlantic School of Theology and looks forward to exercising a ministry of administration within the Council.  Peter and married and is the father to three boys. 

 

 

 

 

 

House Manager and Hostess, Spring House: Sr. Christina Doyle

Sr. Christina was born in Summerside, grew up in a farming community in Western PEI, and after teaching for a year in her home school, joined the Sisters of St. Martha of PEI. She received her early education in the rural schools of Burton and Glengarry and her high school education at Kinkora High. She took her Teacher Training at Prince of Wales College, attended both St. Dunstan’s University, and UPEI from where she earned her BA Degree, with a major in Religious Studies.

 

Throughout her career as a teacher on PEI, Sr. Christina taught in a number of schools: Glengarry, Millcove, Lennox Island, St. Teresa’s Consolidated and Morell Consolidated. After she retired from teaching, Christina moved to Springhill where she, together with her congregation and CCR, operate Spring House, a hospitality house where inmates’ families can stay while they visit the Springhill Institution.

 

A very positive person, Christina brings to St. Luke's a background in spiritual formation, a compassion for the marginalized, and an open and welcoming spirit. Her connection with the God of the Universe and the loving kindness of people she meets on life’s journey, bring energy and excitement to her life as she offers hospitality to families endeavoring to maintain contact during the difficult period of incarceration.

 

Facilitator, St. Luke's Renewal Centre: the Reverend Carol Smith

Born in Digby, NS and gained her education at the following universities: Acadia University, Acadia Divinity College, Presbyterian College and Queens University.  Carol has worked as a pastor in Sherbrooke, NS; Cookstown, ON; Caledonia, NS; Digby, NS. 

 

Carol is quick to point out that most every experience of her life thus far has prepared her for ministry at St. Luke's.  Since making her decision to follow Christ at the age of sixteen, Carol has volunteered within various correctional setting, completed a :Diploma in Prison Ministry at Acadia and a Diploma in Restorative Justice at Queens, volunteered with the Kairos Marathons program, completed a Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education and volunteered with the Montreal Southwest Community Ministries including work at Cowensville Institution and the Laval Training Centre, PQ. 

 

Recently Carol completed a course at the Tatamagouche Centre, Models of Educational Design & Leadership.
